Everything you need to know about odds — explained simply by Pawns
Whether you're new or experienced, understanding odds makes betting far more enjoyable
Understanding odds is the single most important part of online betting. Most people know that higher odds mean bigger returns — but there's actually a lot more to it than that. Pawns wants its users not just to bet, but to bet with understanding. With that goal in mind, this page brings together everything from the basics to advanced information about odds — all in one place.
Decimal odds are the simplest format, and the default on Pawns. Take odds of 2.85 — a ৳100 bet returns ৳285 if it wins (stake included), giving you a profit of ৳185. The higher the odds, the less likely the outcome — but the bigger the reward if it comes in.
Quick maths: Payout = Stake × Odds. For example, ৳500 × 2.4 = ৳1,200. Profit = ৳700. Keep this formula in mind and you can instantly calculate your return from any odds.
In-Play Betting – The Most Thrilling Experience
One of Pawns' most talked-about features is in-play, or live betting. You can place bets even after a match has started, with odds shifting on every ball or moment. Say Bangladesh loses 5 wickets in the first powerplay — India's odds to win will drop sharply, while Bangladesh's will rise. If you believe Bangladesh can still turn it around, betting at that moment could bring a much bigger reward.
To succeed at in-play betting, you need to read how a match is unfolding. Pawns' live statistics panel is a big help here — ball-by-ball updates, wicket timings, and run rates, all in real time.
Handicap Betting – Levelling the Playing Field in One-Sided Matches
When there's a big gap in quality between two teams, the underdog's odds in a standard winner market become very high. Handicap betting makes that situation far more interesting. In cricket, a "+1.5 wickets" handicap means the weaker side gets a virtual head start of 1.5 wickets. In football, a "-1 goal" handicap means the stronger side must win by at least 2 goals.
Asian Handicap is very popular on Pawns. There's no draw outcome, because handicap values are always given in multiples of .5 or .25 — so one side always wins, and bets are placed with that in mind.
